Maria Dragomiroiu Clarifies Her Performance Fees, Earning a Modest Pension
In recent weeks, rumors surfaced in the press claiming that Maria Dragomiroiu, one of Romania’s most beloved and respected folk music singers, charges a fee of 5,000 euros to perform at events. Indignant about these speculations, Dragomiroiu, through her lawyer, has now clarified that her actual performance fee is significantly lower.
„The fee charged by Maria Dragomiroiu, together with the accompanying musicians, is 2,500 euros,” stated Katia Cicală, the artist’s lawyer. She further explained that the publications that reported the inflated 5,000-euro fee will face both criminal and civil consequences for spreading this false information.
Dragomiroiu’s lawyer emphasized that the singer deeply respects and loves her audience, and is considered a true Romanian cultural asset due to her exceptional talent and character. The artist was deeply affected by these inaccurate reports, and the lawyer believes the misinformation was intentional and made in bad faith.
In a previous interview, Dragomiroiu had revealed that her pension was only 1,200 lei, which she found insufficient to support herself. However, her pension has since increased to over 2,000 lei. Despite this improvement, the artist has faced criticism from fans on social media for discussing her financial situation.
Dragomiroiu’s case highlights the challenges faced by artists in Romania, who often struggle to make ends meet despite their significant contributions to the country’s cultural heritage. By clarifying her performance fees, Dragomiroiu aims to provide accurate information to the public and protect her reputation as a respected and hardworking performer.
